How do I receive treatment?

At OML, we provide FES treatments at many clinics around the UK. We also have overseas distributors. For more information on these distributors, see our International section.

To start your FES treatment, we recommend you look through our free information pack.

This includes a brochure and DVD for yourself and a brochure for your GP. To receive this pack, please fill out this simple online form.

There are two ways to receive FES treatment:

  1. Referral from your GP, consultant or physiotherapist
  2. Self-referral (privately funded treatment)

NHS funding for FES can vary across the UK. It depends on the priorities of your local Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG’s) which provide funding for healthcare in your area.

If they do not fund FES in your area, this means you may have to fund the treatment yourself.

If you have any queries on funding in your area, contact our funding team on +44 (0)1722 439 540.

Please note: some CCG's will only except a referral from your GP, so we recommend you check before proceeding with the referral.

Referral from your GP, consultant or physiotherapist

Take the brochure entitled ‘For your Doctor’ to your appointment. If they are unaware of FES, this will give them all the information they need. They will then decide if a referral is appropriate for you.

Remember to ask for a referral to be made out to the National Clinical FES Centre in Salisbury.

Our clinical team will evaluate the referral and, if appropriate, pass on to the nearest Outreach Centre to you.

Self-referral

If funding is not possible or you would like to fund yourself, you have the choice to self-refer.

We recommend you speak with your GP, consultant or physiotherapist before self-referring. They may be able to provide more information and help with the referral process.

Remember to take the brochure entitled ‘For your Doctor’ to your appointment.

This needs to be filled in and sent to the National Clinical FES Centre in Salisbury.

Once our clinical team has received your referral form, they will be in touch with you to book your initial assessment.

During this assessment, you will be set up with the device and asked to complete a series of walking tests. You will know immediately whether FES is of benefit.

You can then decide if you would like to continue with the treatment plan.

For all queries, please contact our team on +44 (0)1722 439 540 or email enquiries@odstockmedical.com
