A Randomized Controlled Trial of an Implantable 2-Channel Peroneal Nerve Stimulator on Walking Speed and Activity in Poststroke Hemiplegia (Journal abstract)

This abstract summarises the findings of a randomised controlled trial testing the response to the STIMuSTEP implanted drop foot stimulator in 29 people who had a drop foot following stroke.  The control group used their normal walking device (including AFO, orthopaedic shoes etc).  Significant improvements in walking speed and distance in a 6 minute walk were recorded.
