Odstock Medical Limited

NICE guidance recommend FES for dropped foot as a routine treatment option in the NHS

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is proud to announce that it is the first
NHS trust in the UK to launch a commercial company,
Odstock Medical Limited (OML).

This has been primarily due to the success of the Odstock Dropped Foot Stimulator (ODFS) and associated products which have attracted considerable interest from overseas, both in Europe and the United States.

From April 2006, Odstock Medical Limited is responsible for all the Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) activities formerly undertaken by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. This will include both clinical services and teaching as well as the manufacture and marketing of stimulators.

The people providing the clinical service will all remain NHS staff but will be seconded to the company. They will still be bound by NHS terms and conditions and are therefore still committed to providing the same high level of patient care and will still be willing to give help and advice when required. The management of Odstock Medical will also remain within the NHS to ensure that the philosophy of the company remains dedicated to putting patient care at the forefront.

We realise that this is a new way of providing health care in the UK and as such is bound to raise a number of questions which we would be happy to answer.
