FES COURSES

We run training courses and workshops on the application of FES in neuro-rehabilitation. Before clinicians can prescribe the ODFS or O2CHS for their patients, they must attend a course; this is mandatory. Three courses plus one workshop are offered:

/1/ Accreditation course for the Odstock Dropped Foot Stimulator
This two-day course is intended to enable participants to assess patients for FES treatment and provide them with the skills to set-up and use the Odstock Dropped Foot Stimulator for gait correction. For further information please click here.

/2/ Introduction to FES and clinical applications
This one-day workshop provides an opportunity to learn about the basics of FES and to receive demonstration of where it has been used clinically. For further information please click here.

/3/ Accreditation course for the Odstock 2-Channel Stimulator
This course is intended for clinicians who have some experience of the ODFS and would like teaching on the two-channel stimulator (O2CHS), used for more complex gait applications. For further information please click here.

/4/ Clinical application of FES for the upper limb
This one-day course is intended to enable participants to assess and treat patients for FES applied to the upper limb (hand, arm and shoulder). It expands on the introduction given in the ‘Accreditation course for the ODFS’. For further information please click here.

Course groups will be limited to 12 - 16 participants.

** Please note that some medical conditions contraindicate the use of FES: poorly controlled epilepsy, cardiac pacemaker users, pregnancy. Please contact us for more information if required or speak to one of the course tutors on the day.

Other courses are available from time to time, for example, FES in paediatrics or different combinations of the above. Please contact us for details.
